ENTERPRISE
mono print, digital print, collage, 36”x 27”, 2013
Star Maps resemble constellations or maps of ruins. Each map traces the accumulation of memories. Images are layered through hand-printing process and collage. When an image is finished, I photograph it and digitally invert it into negative. The negative image comes out sharper than the original with higher contrast. Because of that, the map becomes easier to read. Past events can be understood better if we focus on things that are forgotten instead of tracing what had happened.

BEFORE THE HISTORY
monoprint, 14"x10", 2012
One cannot create the same image twice in monoprint. However, a ghost print can be produced from the same plate that produced the original. The same motifs will appear in a ghost print, but the value, positioning and background/foreground will be displaced. The process is analogous to representation of self. Each time we attempt to represent ourselves, it appears as variations; sometimes subconscious-self unexpectedly emerges.
